HI! Welcome to my art portfolio THE NEW NORMAL. My name is Ville-Karel Viirelaid. I am an artist. I was born in Soviet Estonia in 1981 and I live in Finland. I have graduated Estonian Academy of Arts and studied interdisciplinary arts. I have taken part in artist groups Non Grata (2002-2012), F.L.Y. (2002-2006) and CnOPT (2006-2014). I have curated various alternative art events, established artist run spaces and worked as a curator. Currently I belong to Tampere artists association and Mänttä art society. My main creative outlets are painting, mixed media prints, video- and performance art. I have many sources of inspiration, some of them are outsider art, underground art, Dada, post pop, avant-garde art, occult, philosophy, religions, rituals, alternative history etc.
